Textile and Apparel Design is a discipline that combines textiles, fashion, technique, technology, and an empowered creative process. This is further layered with an understanding of culture as a resource for design through field studies and documentation. The traditional wisdom of using skills, materials, tools, and approaches remains at the core of the program. As TAD designers, students are enabled to develop new design applications using traditional and innovative approaches, by applying their intellectual, aesthetic, and technological abilities. As an end goal, these designers will be capable of defining a narrative behind textiles, while using them as a source of cultural upliftment.
