Ongoing Industry Projects
In the Need-Based Transformation course, Textile and Apparel Design students are tasked with identifying genuine societal, environmental, or functional needs and responding with innovative, sustainable solutions. Leveraging their understanding of textiles, students explore the potential of eco-conscious materials—such as agricultural waste, wild grass, water hyacinth, waste paper, and other biodegradable resources—to rethink how materials shape our daily lives.
Emphasizing research, experimentation, and user-centered design, the course encourages students to create thoughtful prototypes or product ranges that not only resolve specific problems but also advocate for sustainability, responsible consumption, and meaningful impact within the textile industry.
